¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Presents
Greensburg, PA – ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ University is proud to announce the 2003 ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Lecture Series, A Contemporary Perspective. This year’s Lecture Series will feature two unique and dynamic writers, Bruce Feiler and David Maraniss.
New York Times best selling author Bruce Feiler is hailed as one of the leading writers of his generation. A remarkable storyteller, Mr. Feiler's adventurous journalistic spirit has taken him to over 60 countries where he has immersed himself in strikingly different cultures, recording his experiences in six critically-acclaimed books. He has been a schoolteacher in Japan (Learning to Bow), a student at Oxford and Cambridge (Looking for Class), a circus clown (Under the Big Top), a traveler through the Middle East to connect the biblical stories to their actual sites (Walking the Bible) and to search for the man at the heart of the world's three monotheistic religions (Abraham), and a traveler with singer Garth Brooks (Dreaming Out Loud). Mr. Feiler is a contributor to National Public Radio's All Things Considered and writes for the New York Times Magazine, Conde Nast Traveler and Gourmet. Bruce Feiler will speak at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ Thursday, October 2nd, 2003 at 7:30 p.m., with a book signing reception to follow the lecture.
Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss is the author of When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi, First in His Class: A Biography of Bill Clinton and the soon to be released They Marched Into Sunlight. They Marched Into Sunlight is a brilliant narrative focusing on a battle in Vietnam and a protest in the United States that took place simultaneously over two days in October 1967. David Maraniss will speak at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ on Thursday, November 13, 2003 at 7:30 p.m. with a book signing reception to follow the lecture.
