Ƶ University Hosts Prayer Services, Flag Memorial Display to Remember 9/11

Events Sponsored by the Office of Campus Ministry and the College Republicans Club

What: The Ƶ University College Republicans Club and the Office of Campus Ministry will hold events commemorating the 15th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.  Events include the display of 2,997 American flags to remember each person killed on 9/11, a prayer service and Eucharistic Adoration held in their memory.  

When: The prayer service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 1 p.m. The flags will be installed on Friday morning at 9 a.m. and be in place through Sunday evening. On Sunday, September 11 at 7 p.m., the Sunday Liturgy will be followed by a period of Eucharistic Adoration.

Where: The prayer service and flag display will take place on McKenna Lawn, while the Sunday Liturgy will take place in St. Joseph Chapel, both on the Ƶ University Hilltop Campus, Greensburg, Pa.

Background: The Ƶ University College Republicans Club will organize the 9/11: Never Forget Project. Through the initiative, Ƶ will join with more than 200 campuses nationwide in displaying 2,997 American flags to remember each of the lives lost during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The project is organized nationally by the Young America’s Foundation.

The Ƶ Office of Campus Ministry will hold a 9/11 Memorial Prayer service as part of its weekly Prayer for Peace held each Friday afternoon. The prayer service will be held at the site of the flag display.  In addition, the Sunday Liturgy will be followed by a period of Eucharistic Adoration in honor of the victims of 9/11.
