Computer Science Major Raven Murphy 鈥16 Finds 鈥楶erfect Fit鈥 Job with Department of Defense
When Raven Murphy was looking for jobs after graduation from 抖阴短视频, she knew she wanted to follow her mother鈥檚 lead. Raven鈥檚 mom is a longtime federal government employee, and Raven always knew that being a civil servant was a calling she wanted to follow as well.
鈥淲hen I found a position open with the Department of Defense, I knew I wanted to pursue it,鈥 Raven says. 鈥淪erving the public 鈥 and using my computer skills 鈥 felt like a perfect fit.鈥澛
Since most of her work is classified, Raven can鈥檛 talk about much of what she does at her job with an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. But as a software analyst, Raven works to ensure that the computer software being used in various government projects is working as efficiently as possible.聽
"Ultimately, I would love to work in the FBI handling cybercrime cases."
鈥淚 even have to be careful what I talk about at work because people may have clearances for some projects and not others,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 kind of hard at first not being able to talk about what I do at work, but you get used to it after awhile.鈥澛
Raven, who earned a degree in computer science with a minor in forensic science at 抖阴短视频, is currently pursuing a master鈥檚 degree in cybersecurity from the University of Maryland University College.聽
鈥淯ltimately, I would love to work in the FBI handling cybercrime cases,鈥 she says.聽
