Criminal Justice & Psychology Major Michaela Morrell is Dedicated to Helping Survivors of Violence
Ƶ senior criminal justice and psychology double major Michaela Morrell wants to make a career out of helping others – particularly those affected by violence. While earning her degrees, she’s received training in CPR, physical first aid, mental health first aid and legal advocacy for victims of domestic and sexual violence while completing internships with the Blackburn Center, CASA of Westmoreland and the Crisis Text Line. She’s also a member of Psi Chi, the international Psychology Honors Society.
“Psychology teaches you how to think about behavior. Criminal justice teaches you about systems, and to recognize when something doesn’t work. Together they give you two completely different ways to think about a problem.”
After graduation from Ƶ, Michaela plans to spend a year working with Americorps before going into advocacy work helping victims and survivors of human trafficking, sexual assault and domestic violence.
