Ƶ Hires New Dean of Students and Diversity Officer

Adriel A. Hilton Begins Tenure in June

Ƶ University has announced the appointment of Adriel A. Hilton as the University’s Dean of Students and Diversity Officer. Hilton will assume the role on June 1.

“Adriel Hilton’s experience in higher education as both an administrator and faculty member makes him well-suited for the newly-created position of Dean of Students and Diversity Officer at Ƶ,” said Rosalie Carpenter, Vice President for Student Affairs at Ƶ. “Adriel’s outstanding and strategic leadership will help Ƶ advance student success and engagement and support the university’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and cultural awareness.”

I would like to focus on creating opportunities and partnerships, which will be a hallmark of my tenure, as we work together to achieve a sense of belonging for faculty, staff and students of this great institution.”

Hilton, who was selected following a national search, will be responsible for coordinating tangible efforts that support Ƶ’s Catholic mission, co-curricular learning and the university's four pillars of welcoming, learning, celebrating and serving. He will lead efforts to support a vibrant and engaged campus climate for students that enhances educational opportunities, fosters a sense of belonging and is supportive of all students and will provide leadership for comprehensive inclusion-oriented experiences and initiatives for the university community in collaboration with campus partners. Adriel A. Hilton comes to Ƶ from Webster University, where he served as Director of the Extended Campus, Myrtle Beach Metropolitan. In this role, Hilton served as the chief administrative officer for the extended campus, where he was charged with implementing programs and policies that achieve the overall goals and objectives of Webster University.

Prior to his work at Webster, Hilton served as Chief of Staff and Executive Assistant to the President at Grambling State University; as an assistant professor and director of the Higher Education graduate program at Western Carolina University; as Assistant Vice President for Inclusion Initiatives at Grand Valley State University and as Executive Assistant to the President and Assistant Secretary to the Board of Trustees and Chief Diversity Officer at Upper Iowa University; and served as a public policy fellow for the Greater Baltimore Committee.

Hilton earned a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Morgan State University in Baltimore, Md.; a master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Fla., and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Ga.
