Creative Writing Major Receives Keystone Press Award for Movie Review
English major Patrick Crossen earned first place in the 2018 Student Keystone Press Awards for a movie review he wrote for the Setonian, 抖阴短视频鈥檚 student-run news source.
鈥淭he movie review was a piece giving people an alternative to franchise films/spinoffs,鈥 he says. 鈥淚t was called 鈥楾he cure to franchise fatigue,鈥 and it was a review of the films 鈥楲ady Bird,鈥 鈥楾hree Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri,鈥 and 鈥楾he Killing of a Sacred Deer.鈥 It was for people who aren't sure what to see when there are no superhero films in theaters.鈥
In addition to being an award-winning reviewer, Patrick writes fantasy (he鈥檚 currently working on his first novel) and sketch comedy with his writing partner Chris. Chris performs the sketches with his group Mr. Gooses at the Arcade Comedy Theater in Pittsburgh.聽聽
鈥淲hen I'm not writing,鈥 Patrick says, 鈥 I'm probably at the movies, getting ready to write about whatever I'm watching, and if I'm not at the movies, I'm eagerly checking my mailbox for my Hogwarts letter.鈥澛
