Ƶ University’s Wukich Center for Entrepreneurial Opportunities will present a free public lecture by Barbara Martin, CEO and Founder of KMA Design with offices in Carnegie, Philadelphia
Martin, a Ƶ alumna, founded KMA Design, an experiential graphic design company specializing in architectural signage design, in 1996. Martin has developed a national reputation in creating aesthetically and architecturally cohesive signage and wayfinding for educational, healthcare, transportation hubs, sporting complexes and government facilities in 29 states, Paris and Rome.
KMA Design has produced work for Petersen Events Center, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, WVU Medicine, Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Johns Hopkins University, Allegheny Health System, and Ƶ University’s Performing Arts Center, McKenna Center, Administration Building, and the Joanne Woodyard Boyle Health Sciences Center, including the exterior freestanding donor helix. The firm’s most recent installation at Ƶ is the Centennial Wall celebrating the history of Ƶ.
Martin and her firm, which has 17 full-time employees in three offices, have received numerous design awards, and Martin has written articles for books, newspapers and national magazines. Martin is the recipient of the “Women in Business First Award” and was granted the prestigious “Diamond Award” as one of the top 15 CEOs in the Pittsburgh region. In 2016 KMA was awarded the “Fastest Growing Business” in Pittsburgh.
