Ƶ Orthodontics Residents Educate Community During National Children's Dental Health Month
Ƶ University Center for Orthodontics residents took time throughout the month of February to help children understand the importance of good oral hygiene as part of National Children's Dental Health Month.
Orthodontic residents visited students at several locations during February and spoke about proper oral hygiene, general dentistry and a little about orthodontics. The residents reached out to children at St. John the Evangelist Regional Catholic School in Uniontown, the Ligonier Valley Library and Jeannette Elementary-Middle School.
Resident Samantha Seitz took part in the visits. "I really enjoyed sharing my dental knowledge with the kids and loved the positive interaction," she said.
"We're so glad the schools see the value in our visits; it's so important to make sure children have positive habits when it comes to caring for their teeth and mouth," said Kim Williams, Professional Relations Coordinator for the Ƶ Center for Orthodontics.
The American Dental Association suggests children see a dentist at age 1, but equally important, the American Association of Orthodontists believes children should be seen as early as age 7 by an orthodontist, to make sure things are developing properly.
Parents can schedule a free exam for their children at the Ƶ Center for Orthodontics by calling 724-552-2950.
