Vocal Students Perform at Carnegie Hall

When Mark Boyle, director of choral and vocal activities at Ƶ, was invited to conduct a performance as part of MidAmerica Productions’ 40th season staging shows at Carnegie Hall, he didn't plan to travel alone. Una Voce, the chamber choir of Ƶ University, was able to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity thanks to the generosity of Ƶ alumni and friends. An auditioned choir of highly skilled choral musicians, Una Voce serves as the touring choir for the Music Program on campus.

Boyle also reached out to alumni David Emanuelson '14, the choral director at Hempfield, and Emily Hazlett '21, choral director at Greensburg-Salem, who were able to bring along their ensembles, allowing three groups of local students to earn a standing ovation in the Big Apple.

Students from Ƶ's Una Voce, Greensburg-Salem’s Show Choir and Hempfield’s Spartan Chorale were joined by singers from Georgia, California and Tennessee, and performed alongside the New England Symphonic Ensemble at Carnegie Hall on June 18.
