The Fleischner Lecture

Holocaust Scholar Eva Fleischner

Dr. Eva Fleischner (1925-2020) was an accomplished and distinguished Holocaust scholar. For many years, Dr. Fleischner was deeply involved in our Center. She was a long-time member of our advisory board, and spoke often at our conferences. In addition, Dr. Fleischner received our highest honor, the Nostra Aetate award, for her outstanding contributions to improving Jewish-Catholic relations.

Through their generous contributions, Dr. Fleischner and her family have endowed the Fleischner Lecture Series, which enables us to bring scholars to the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ campus to discuss their research on the Holocaust, genocide and inter-religious understanding.

Recent Event:

On November 2, 2022, the Eva Fleischner Lecture was sponsored by Hans and Leslie Fleischner and hosted by the National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ University.

During the event, Dr. Rittner received the Nostra Aetate Award, which “acknowledges distinguished work in the field of Jewish-Catholic relations and, in particular, recognizes scholarship that enhanced interfaith understanding.” She received the award in recognition of her distinguished academic career, as well as her long and faithful service as a member of the Advisory Board of the NCCHE.
